This electronic system is made using LM3914N-1 LED driver IC that can drive 10 LEDs and show a systematic pattern of LEDS according to the intensity of sound in a dot or bar graph fashion. Here we have used the BAR GRAPH format to visualize the intensity of sound. Which of course is excellent to watch the rhythmic pattern of LEDs according to music.
WORKING PROCEDURE
Here LM3914N-1 is the LED driver IC that drives 10 LEDs. It is a monolithic, analog controlled LED that uses a linear output scale and works as the audio visualizing "VU-METER"Keep in Mind:
- Capacitors should be connected to recover from any kind of noises.
-
The LED's ground pins are connected in the LM3914 IC.
- Resistors of 2.2k and 3.3k Ohms must be placed in series with the LED to avoid any damage to the LED. These resistors also controls the brightness/dimness of the LEDs.
- You can have both dot or bar graph visualization. By providing 5v source on pin 9 of the IC gives you a bar graph audio visualization while removing it gives you a dot visualization.
- You must adjust the pot in the electret microphone module according to the perfect level for this project to work correctly
